President Candidates
Ghina Dhiyaa (She/Her)

Hey Dragons, my name is Ghina Dhiyaa and I am running to be your 26/27 BCC President!! I'm a 4th year Computer Science student, and it's safe to say that Bethune College Council has completely shaped my University experience. I started as a General Member, then joined BPAC and BAC, and now I serve as your VP Socials. Through each of these roles, I've seen firsthand how powerful this community can be, and how Bethune can genuinely feel like home. As President, I want to continue growing that community to encourage and promote new leaders. I aim to strengthen collaboration by working with the council, other colleges, and the University to reach more students and expand what we have to offer, ensuring that student voices are actively represented in our decisions by maintaining clear and transparent communication with our constituents. My goal is to ensure every Dragon feels supported, represented, and proud to call Bethune their home! I would be honored to have your support and serve as your President!!
Harleen Dulay (She/Her)

Hi everyone! My name is Harleen Dulay and I am running for President of Bethune College Council. Bethune has become a home away from home where I have been honoured to serve as one of the Vice President Socials this year and General Member last year. I hope to extend the warmth and community I see at Bethune to our Lassonde friends as well by furthering Lassonde involvement in athletics, socials and clubs by working alongside the relevant committees and Council itself to make Bethune a welcoming space for Lassonde constituents. Also, I hope to increase transparency between Council and constituents by maintaining updated financials alongside the Finance team, maintaining a live club fund count on the website as well as transparency in the way funds are capped by working alongside the Outreach team, and working with the Secretary and Speaker to increase constituent engagement at our Council meetings through more thorough promotional content so your voices can be heard on all matters pertinent to you! Lastly, throughout this year I have worked alongside Council to try to increase engagement with the other colleges at York and I would hope to continue this in this role by supporting other organizations at York when possible and having cross campus opportunities where constituents can have the chance to interact with one another from different colleges! Bethune is where my university career began and I hope to give back to the community that gave so much to me by continuing to be at service to the constituents in the role of President for 2026/2027.

&
Helen Hue My Nguyen(She/Her)

Hi everyone! We're Helen and Sarah and we're so excited to be running for your Bethune College Council Outreach Directors for 2026/2027 year! As Outreach Directors, our goal is to foster connection both within the Bethune College Community and with outside organizations. We promise to support clubs with adequate funding to advance their initiatives, innovation, and events. We also promise to provide plenty of opportunities for philanthropy and social engagement throughout the year. We're both Founders and Presidents of our own clubs, which has given us the communication and team work skills needed to collaborate with outside organizations. Our roles have also giving us insight into how to become a student organization, the resources available to student clubs, and a deeper understanding of we can better support clubs.
Vote Helen and Sarah for your next Outreach Directors 🫶
Kirti Vaswani( She/Her)
&
Saanvi Datta (She/Her)

Hi everyone! We want to be in this position because we are very passionate about strengthening our community in Bethune. We believe outreach is about creating inclusive spaces, strengthening engagement, and creating more opportunities for students to connect, collaborate, and give back. We have both been part of the community since our frosh year and know how important it is to have a strong place where we cannot only make more friendships but also call home. We both have a passion for building strong connections between the BCC and Bethune-affiliated clubs, while also ensuring transparent and effective funding processes that support student initiatives. We are both organized, communicative, and committed to fostering a healthy environment for students where they can be engaged and active, so vote for us!
Freshta Mohebbi (She/Her)

Hey Bethune! I’m running for Outreach Director because I’m passionate about turning our college into a powerhouse for both student-led clubs and meaningful philanthropy. My goal is to streamline the funding process so our clubs can focus on what they do best, building community while I handle the red tape and bridge the gap between the BCC and our amazing student organizations. Let’s work together to make this year our most connected and impactful one yet.
Commuter Representative(s) Candidate
Chigozie Anthony Duru (He/Him)
&
Soyuz Kadel (He/Him)

We’re interested in this position because Bethune’s spaces have helped us strengthen existing friendships and create new connections, both within the college and with friends we bring to spend time here. We want to share that same welcoming energy with others, whether they’re regulars at Bethune or just stopping by once in a while. We’ve also had the chance to shadow and learn from the previous commuter directors, and we spend a lot of our time between classes in Bethune, especially in the JACS and JCR. Because of that, we’re familiar with the spaces and have gotten to know many of the commuters and other students who use them.
